Genetic modification of humans and animals is now underway as never dreamed of before. From transplants to superhuman powers. Organs that could be grown in animals, and transplanted into humans to extend life. The body parts that cannot be replaced with organs could be made from machines, as like robots.
Think about this for a moment. When human stem cells are placed into an animal embryo is the animal now part human? Whatever your answer the next question would be, how many human organs could be placed before it is part human? What percent of the animal would need to be human before it has human rights? The questions could go on and on.
Now even talk is being done about placing animal genetic materials into human to improve abilities to run faster, see farther, etc.. I'm sure if the science world is talking about it, it has already begun. Things are always much farther along than the science world let you know.
This technology is so advanced that there is no stopping it. A huge problem is even if we here in America reject such advances other countries would continue and then we would be left behind. With such technology being left behind brings you to the reality of falling behind in world status. No longer being a super power in the world could be dangerous and even fatal for the United States. Think of armies with super human abilities! Soldiers that can run faster, jump higher, and see farther. This is where we are heading.
This is presented to us as exciting new breakthroughs. How could anyone moral be against such discoveries? No sickness or disease that the medical world would not be able to cure or replace. That sounds so wonderful doesn't it? Those of us that have lost loved ones or see family or friends suffering from an incurable disease it can easily sway us into complete support for such scientific breakthroughs.
The question we have to ask ourselves is where does it stop? Where does the God factor come in or do we try to become our own gods? We are created as body, soul and spirit. There are parts of us that this world will never be able to create. There is no easy answers now; we can only ask God to help us see His gifts of health and happiness and our own agendas to become our own gods.
Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. [NLT]
