One of my favorite versus in the bible comes from Jude 23 "but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Being in street ministry for 5 years has given me a respect for this scripture. Our outreach team has spoken to hundreds of people that knew scripture, and many times came from ministries themselves. Some knew the scripture by memory better than we did. It would break our hearts to hear their stories of their life, disappointments, and the guilt of themselves being disappointments to others. Whether they were drunk, on drugs, homeless, or prostituting, we would try so hard to pull them from the fire. Being in street ministry gives you a good perspective of hating the sin and loving the sinner. What sin has done in lives is unbearable at times. It rips your heart out and leaves you crying out to your Father in heaven , "How can this be?"
You must remember to save them with fear. Fear of what?
1 Corinthians 15 ;10a But by the grace of God I am what I am.
I realized when looking at those so lost after having such a knowledge of God's word and yet believing the lies, I walk in grace from my Father, and if I step away from Him I too could be the one that needs to be pulled from the fire.
As the saying goes, "But for the grace of God there go I."
Deuteronomy 11:16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them,
Jesus warns us over and over throughout scripture, "Do not be deceived."
