John 4:3-42 A Samaritan Woman Meets Her Messiah
Verse 4 But He needed to go through Samaria.
Amplified Bible: it was necessary for Him to go through Samaria
Why was it necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria? Because He had a master plan. I love the story of the Samaritan woman. In this story there are so many nuggets for us today.
In Jesus day women were property, but Jesus exalted women to be equal. Even before the equal rights movement Jesus was for women and all mankind. He was a rebel for righteousness. When we think of a rebel or rebellion it always has a negative connotation, but Jesus was a rebel for righteousness. I love that about Him. He put a positive on the word rebel.
Second he spoke to a Samaritan. They were considered the half breed Jews who were idolaters. Jesus again broke the rules of religion and was a rebel for righteousness. He reached out to the pagans of that day. Shouldn't we then? Our problem is we think if we reach out we have to compromise. Jesus never did!
In verse 23 it says, "The Father is seeking such to worship Him." Something we must remember and yet is so easily forgotten, is God wants to be found by you! We need to begin to seek Him knowing that this is His heart toward us when we pursue God, he will let us catch Him!
In verses 39 through 41 it says that many believed because of her and many more believed because of Him. There are two types of people. Those that believe without seeing, and those that can only believe with seeing. We call them a doubting Thomas today. But either way this is why Jesus needed to go to Samaria.
The harvest is white and we know the Savior of the world. What a master plan!
Be blessed today and be a rebel for righteousness!
