Acts 19:13 [NLT] A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying, “I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this.15 But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?” 16 Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.
17 The story of what happened spread quickly all through Ephesus, to Jews and Greeks alike. A solemn fear descended on the city, and the name of the Lord Jesus was greatly honored. 18 Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. 19 A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million dollars. 20 So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.
One night as the team was praying before going out to the streets we came together for prayer as usual to pray about that nights encounters. We are always praying for those divine appointments each time we go out to the streets. We left there with the confidence that the Lord was going to do something that night.
We had made several stops prayed for a few people when we came across a man standing by the side of the road as our van approached he began to act wildly. He was ripping his shirt open and yelling at us as we drove by. We thought he was just a man that was crazy, drugged out, etc. We hesitated if we should even stop to talk with him. Many times as you find those on the streets they have no comprehension that you’re even there. They’re far into their own world of delusions and hallucinations from the drugs recently taken.
We decided to stop we pulled over and a few of us got out of the van. Dustin approached him first informing him who we were, and that we would like to pray for him. Another man in our group walked up to him and began speaking to him, my husband, and then myself walked up behind them and as we approached him I immediately knew he was possessed. I just began rebuking the demonic, the darkness, the principalities and the powers of evil in this man’s life. We all began praying deliverance over him and taking authority.
I’ll never be able to describe what we saw in this man. His face distorted, his voice would change. His eyes were so full of evil so dark. His face would get an appearance of Satan himself looking at us. He began slithering like a snake and we kept praying and rebuking. When he saw that we were not intimidated by his evilness he walked away. My husband said let’s go and the men began to walk away. But I knew we were to stand our ground. I felt the Spirit tell me don’t move I stood there. We have been in that place before as a team, and they knew we were to stand our ground when they saw that I would not move.
We stood there as he returned and began to speak in a unknown tongue. He raised his hands as if in worship, fell to the ground on his knees and yelled out, I am the general!" over and over again he would say, "I am the general!"
He then got up and was looking right at me and and he came very close, and I just kept praying and commanding that he could not touch me. He slithered around on the ground behind me and I just kept confessing that he could not touch me. My husband is standing close, and getting ready to stop him if he touched me. He then suddenly stood and started walking towards our van. He was ranting, and tearing his clothes off. My husband just rose up and started rebuking the demon, and as he did this man took off, and dropped his hat and glasses in the middle of the road, and just took off running into the darkness.
My husband would tell us as we gathered together to pray, that he knew one thing about this encounter with the demonic; he was not going to be the one running away naked!
I think of this poor man often and pray for him. unfortunately on the streets the demon filled person can often just run away. They will take off even as we approach, and be yelling at us not to come near, and not to touch them. They will just run from us.
We have the authority to cast out demons, and to see the things they saw in the days of the Apostles and even Jesus Himself do. I pray today for a greater faith to even walk in a room where a demon is, and they must manifest, and be cast out by the authority given to us as followers of Jesus. We have seen multiple deliverance's in our group, but one day I desire to see 100% deliverance by those that are the called in these last days with every encounter of darkness.
I want to see those prisoners of darkness burn their books of incantations and anything else they use for Satan's cause. To lift their hands to the Most High God and exalt Jesus Christ of Nazareth in worship and praise! Hallelujah!!
I pray you be covered by the blood of Jesus as you go out today, and everyday, and encounter darkness even unaware.
