Satan has been around since the beginning of mankind and his tactics are used over and over again and unfortunately successfully in many cases. My husband and I were at a summit on human trafficking and a young woman was giving her testimony on the lifestyle she lived and how Jesus came to her and healed her. She started out prostituting to make herself rich and said she felt empowered by it. She chose prostitution but the hardened reality of it is Satan chose her.
He puts in front of us what we desire. He knows we were created by God and in Genesis it says in His image, so Satan perverts the natural instincts God has put in us to draw us away from our Creator. In Genesis 1:28 God turns over the dominion of the earth to mankind and tells us to fill the earth and subdue it. Subdues meaning here is, to conquer, bring into bondage, bring into subjection. Subjection’s definition is being under dominion, rule or authority.
Can you start seeing how we were created by God to have dominion over the earth and to bring it into subjection? We were created to rule the earth and that in it, but not to rule mankind or each other. That is our superior’s job, God! Man was to be different than all the other creatures. He was to be dedicated and devoted to his Creator. Our Creator gave us knowledge, righteousness and holiness. We are to be set apart for Him. Heaven and earth were placed in mankind by God. He was made by the dust of the earth and breathed a spirit of God into him to bring life. We are God’s representatives on earth; His ambassadors.
Now we can see why Satan uses what God created to be good and uses it for his own advantage. He takes our natural instincts to rule over the earth and tempts us to rule over each other.
When we are filled with the love of Christ we will see each other in such a different way.
I Corinthians 13:1 [NLT] If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
May the love of Christ fill you today!
