Many times in life you will go through fire to consume anything that is not from God. He wants it out of your life so He can use you mightily. It is not easy facing truths. We say the truth sets us free, and yes it does, but that does not make truth easy to receive. Our flesh desires the easy way out and because of that we may very easily desire the lie as to have to face the truth. In facing truth we must then do something about it. It can set us free if we choose to believe it and walk in it.
An example of this is love; love is the most powerful tool we have, but it says to look upon our enemies with love and compassion. It is very difficult to look at someone who spitefully uses you or spreads lies about you with the look of love. But this is the key that will unlock truth and power in your life. When evil looks upon you, love crushes it; this is where you can be the example for others to see love in your life and victory. It might take a while to see the victory, but it will come.
I believe the most hurtful times is when our brothers or sisters come against us. I remember the first time this happened to me I was so crushed. I was new to the Christian ministry and I couldn't believe someone that was supposed to show the love of Christ could be so hateful. It's painful to see evil that is working in our brothers and sisters in Christ, or our family members, or just acquaintances. But what I have learned along the way is that human action will crumble in the presence of the true love of God. I know in my life I must have crushed others too, but we all let our emotions get in the way of showing the love that Christ has asked us to show.
The great thing about victory in love is that we walk away with no regrets. No regrets of what you said or did that was out of the will of the Father. People's words may be crushing, but our reaction will determine how quickly we can get up and move on.
The Lord told me a long time ago that I cannot let my emotions get in the way of His will for me, because if I do i will be unproductive for His kingdom.
Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
I pray today Lord You will help us to love, and teach us to speak out of that love and not our emotions.
