Habakkuk's first question, 1:2 O Lord, How long shall I cry and You will not hear?
Habakkuk’s second question, 1:13. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person More righteous than he?
Do you pray this way? I do! I’m upset, things are not going like I believe they should. Wickedness and unjust matters over take righteousness. I go to My Father and grumble with questions and then wait for my correction. Because I have learned I do not see the big picture and I am not God.
Habakkuk will go on to say:
Habakkuk 2:1, I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected.
1. Watch H4931 post
2. Watch H6822 Lean forward, peer await
[NLT]I will climb up to my watchtower
and stand at my guardpost.
There I will wait to see what the Lord says
and how he will answer my complaint.
Peter will also tell us to be watching!
1Peter 5:8 Be sober [G5613 self-controlled, be discreet, watch], be vigilant [G1127 be awake and watching]; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Discreet: judicious [good judgment; wise, sensible, well-advised] in one's conduct or speech, especially with regard to respecting privacy or maintaining silence about something of a delicate nature
Jesus says in Matthew 24:42-43 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into."
We are given warnings over and over in scripture to watch, prepare, be ready.
I Thessalonians 5:1-6 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. [G5613 self-controlled, be discreet, watch]
In these chaotic and uncertain days, watch, be sober, self-controlled, and discreet. Watch so the deception of the roaring lion does not shake you but empowers you. Watch for coming of our Lord. We have been given the signs of the times so we are not overtaken, but watchful and aware in all things.
Therefore WATCH!
